Cats have many wonderful qualities that make them such popular pets. They’re cute, cuddly, highly independent, and extremely entertaining. However, kitties do need good TLC in order to thrive. Here, a Wichita, KS vet lists some ways to keep Fluffy happy and purring.

Good Food

A good diet will go a long way towards keeping your pet healthy and content. Just don’t overfeed your kitty! If Fluffy becomes obese, she’ll face some very serious health issues. Ask your vet for specific advice.

Playtime

Take a few minutes a day to play with your feline pal. This is not only fun for Fluffy, it’s also good for her, both mentally and physically.

Clean Litterboxes

Cats like their purrsonal powder rooms kept clean, and who can blame them? Scoop your pet’s litterbox daily, and change the litter every week or so.

Window View

Birdwatching and sunbathing are both very popular among our feline friends. Give Fluffy a comfy window seat, so she can do both at once!

Purrniture

Fluffy isn’t exactly shy about borrowing our things, but she really should have at least a few pieces that were made just for her. Cat towers are a great choice, as they provide napping spots, nail care stations, and jungle gyms. Comfy beds and napping spots are also definite musts.

Stimulation

Although it’s important for you to play with Fluffy, she should also have ways to amuse herself when you aren’t around. Make sure your kitty has plenty of playthings to bat under the couch! You can also set out some pet-safe plants for your furball to nibble on and hide behind.

Conversation

Kitties like to pretend that they are aloof and heartless, but they actually thrive on attention. Talking to your cat is a great way to strengthen the bond between you. She may even talk back!

Veterinary Care

We know, Fluffy won’t be particularly thrilled about visiting us. Most of our feline patients would much rather take a nap. However, your kitty will feel much better with regular veterinary care. Healthy pets are happy pets!

Love

Finally, just make sure that Fluffy feels loved and safe. Pay lots of attention to your kitty. Pet her, play with her, and offer her lap space when she wants. Purrs are truly precious!
