Happy New Year! Are you making resolutions for 2023? Your canine pal will be in your corner, cheering you on with tail wags, head tilts, happy dances, and, of course, puppy kisses as you strive to meet those goals. In fact, Man’s Best Buddy actually has a few plans of his own! Read on as a Wichita, KS vet lists some of the things your dog may want to accomplish this year.

Get More Treats

If there’s one thing all of our canine patients have in common, it’s a healthy appetite. There’s nothing wrong with giving your four-legged friend something special, as long as you stick with safe, suitable options. Plain, cooked meat, fish, or poultry is a good bet. You can also opt for store-bought treats. Just don’t go overboard. Ask your vet for advice, and let that professional guidance—not your pet’s adorable sad stare—be your guide.

Be A Good Boy

Fido is always extra cute when he’s being proud of himself for performing a trick or command, or just behaving properly. Always reward your furry buddy for being good. (By reward, we mean treats and praise. Mostly treats.)

Explore!

Our canine companions love going to new places. That stimulation is very important for Fido. Pups learn a lot of information about the world by sniffing things, so this is kind of like a doggy version of reading a paper or scrolling through social media. Take your pooch for walks at least once a day, and bring him to safe parks or trails on occasion.

Get That Squirrel

Many pups are instinctively drawn to chasing after small animals. After all, that’s the sort of prey our furry friends would hunt for dinner in the wild. Take Fido to some new places this year, so he can run after new squirrels.

Be A Good Butler

One great thing about having a dog? You’ll immediately know when there is someone at the door. Fido takes these duties very seriously!

Play

Man’s Best Friend is very playful, which is one reason he’s such a great friend and companion. Fido would probably love to spend more time chasing Frisbees or tennis balls. Make time to play with your four-legged friend every day!
